We are a family-owned business. My husband Jose and I decided to crack the salteña code and I'm proud to say we have succeeded in this attempt. Our ethnicity is rooted in Bolivia, just like the salteña. I was born in the capital, La Paz, and came to Canada at age 6. My husband was born in Toronto, to Bolivian parents who came from Santa Cruz Bolivia. Ever since we started dating, my husband wanted to learn to make salteñas, as this delicious mid-morning snack is to die for.

Every year he would bring up the salteña topic but I didn't show much interest. In 2020 during the lockdown, I decided to explore salteña recipes and found that recipes from Potosi, Bolivia were the best! My parents being from Potosi, always told me that the salteña originated from Potosi and how delicious they were. So I combined salteña recipes from La Paz and Potosi and boom, the Freakin Llama was born!
